Meltham Golf Club
Holmfirth, West Yorkshire | UK
Ecology & Habitat Project
This project will enhance local biodiversity by creating a sustainable and ecologically rich environment. The greens team at Meltham GC aim to establish native heather areas, develop wildflower landscapes to introduce bee hives to support pollinators and install bat/bird boxes to provide safe nesting sites for native species. These initiatives will improve habitat quality, promote wildlife conservation, and foster a more sustainable environment, benefiting both golf club and the surrounding ecosystem.
South Shields Golf Club
South Shields, Tyne & Wear | UK
Gorse Restoration
South Shields Golf Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in North East England. They have a diverse range of wildlife and plant species and will be further developing biodiversity on course by extending areas of gorse across several fairways. This will encourage more wildlife and help enhance the natural features of the course.
Creating Habitats for Pollinators
Canton, MI | USA
Habitat Creation at Pheasant Run GC
This collaborative habitat conservation effort between Creating Habitats for Pollinators, a Michigan-based environmental non-profit, and the Canton (MI) Twp. Parks Department, will convert 87,000 sq. ft. of the Township’s 27-hole public golf course, Pheasant Run, into beneficial and beautiful native wildflower habitat for pollinators. The plantings will transform highly managed turf grass into low-maintenance native habitat; saving money and reducing pesticide/fertilizer use.
Seed Your Future
Alexandria, VA | USA
Growing Careers & Classroom Connections: Turf Management Education Program
The primary purpose of this project from Seed Your Future (SYF) is to bridge the educational gap around sustainable turf and water management by leveraging strong industry partnerships and delivering curriculum resources to educators. Through a Spring 2026 webinar featuring experts, including a member of the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS), and targeted lessons, SYF will equip educators, inspire students, and promote awareness of green careers.
Evanston Wilmette Golf Course Association
Evanston, IL | USA
Oak Savanna Restorian – Hole 11
Native oak savannas are an increasingly rare and ecologically valuable habitat in Illinois. This project will fund seed and plugs that build on the initial work carried out, which has included: removing invasives, seeding native grasses and forbs; and planting young oak trees to establish a structural foundation. The project enhances biodiversity, supports wildlife, improves soil and water retention, and demonstrates how golf courses can serve as sustainable, community-based ecological restoration models.
Friends of Asheville Municipal Golf Course
Asheville, NC | USA
Habitat Restoration Initiative
The purpose of the Friends of Asheville Muni Habitat Restoration Initiative is to reclaim habitat that was lost to devastation incurred from the catastrophic weather event, Hurricane Helene, that swept through the region in September 2024. The impact of the work on the total of two acres being addressed will mitigate storm water issues and habitat loss that are the result of hurricane canopy loss, by re-establishing trees, understory, and native meadows back into the golf course ecosystem.
Green Gables Golf Club
Cavendish | CA
Stream Riparian Vegetation and Forest Connectivity
The goal for this project is to re-establish native vegetation and with a plan to mimic the Wabanaki-Acadian forest which surrounds the golf course. With the help from Parks Canada the project is broken down into two different areas the first being the Stream Riparian area by hole 6 and the second being the land between holes 3 & 7 both areas hold great environmental importance and have great opportunities.
