The Lakeside Learning Field Trip Program is a hands-on, environmental education program that brings over 2,000 fourth grade students to Great Salt Lake each year. Marshland Conservation
This project intends to transform an area of 5000 sq.m. into marshland, by directing a stream that flows through the course into a dried up area. The stream flows through the course into Långvik Bay and the Baltic Sea, which is in truly poor condition. This project will educate and raise awareness.

The primary purpose of this project is to regenerate woodland areas and increase animal and birdlife diversity. The native woodland areas have not been able to regenerate due to gorse and scrub smothering naturally generated sapling growth. This will increase our tree corridors and improve habitats.

This project aims to return a pond to its original shape and bring back biodiversity. The reed bed is located at the bottom of a valley, fed springs and the dominant vegetation is reeds. Over the years, the pond has been partially filled with sediment and is gradually becoming eutrophic.

Invasive Species Removal
The Sherwood Forest Golf Course will mechanically remove four invasive species from the course (Rosa multiflora, Pyrus callerana, Euonymus alatus and Ligustrum sinense) and to replace these plants with native plants to create more plant diversity and seasonal interest on the course. This project is consistent with the community’s commitment to protecting the natural environment of this mountain ecosystem.

Wildflower Area
The 10 acre 3-Hole Sunshine Course was constructed in 2003. Golf playing surfaces were renovated in 2020. It provides golf opportunities for disadvantaged and serves as the CDGA Turfgrass Program’s headquarters. The Project will create a 0.5 acre area filled with native Illinois wildflowers & pollinators.
